Special Agent John Kim who is the Unit Chief of the Joint Targetting Intelligence Group II in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Headquarters in Washington D.C. He specializes in cybercrime and intellectual property crime. He is in Manila for a limited time on special assignment with the FBI Legal Attache to promote cooperation and knowledge sharing on cybercrime and cybersecurity best practices among local stakeholders.
John Kim entered on duty as a Special Agent with the FBI in 2007.
From 2007-2014, Mr. Kim was assigned to the San Francisco Field Office, San Jose Resident Agency, where he worked criminal, Cybercrime, Intrusion and Counterintelligence investigations.
In 2014, Mr. Kim was promoted to FBI headquarters as a Supervisory Special Agent where he program managed FBI undercover operations.
In 2015, Mr. Kim was promoted to Unit Chief where he led the investigations and operations against significant hybrid commercial enterprises that posed an asymmetric cyber and counterintelligence threat to U.S. critical infrastructure.
Mr. Kim is currently assigned to the U.S. Embassy, Legal Attaché to promote the Joint Cyber Security Working Group and to assist with all Cyber investigations within the Philippines.
Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Kim owned a martial arts school where he taught taekwondo to over 750 students.
Mr. Kim holds a Master Degree in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity from University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
