Updates on the Retail Trade Liberalization Bill

On the account of several delays of holding NEDA Board Meetings, the official approval process of new Foreign Investment Negative List has not occurred. Therefore the briefing on the 11th FINL by  Undersecretary Edillon is postponed to a later date. In her place Legislative Committee chair, John Forbes, will discuss recent developments on amendments to the Retail Trade Act Liberalization bill. He is representing AmCham at the March 20 hearing on this bill at the House Trade Committee.

This proposed amendment to the Retail Trade Liberalization law seeks to reduce the threshold for foreign investment in the retail sector to the level in the Foreign Investments Act and to remove other restrictions in the law.
