About the Speaker

Mr. Cezar P. Consing

President and CEO, Bank of the Philippine Islands

Cezar “Bong” Consing has been President and CEO of Bank of the Philippine Islands (“BPI”) since 2013.

From 2004 to 2013, Mr. Consing was a Partner with The Rohatyn Group. He was responsible for the firm’s private equity business in Asia, managed its Hong Kong based operations and was a member of the board of partners of the firm’s management company.

Mr. Consing was an investment banker with J.P. Morgan & Co. from 1985 to 2004, where he was based in Hong Kong and Singapore. From 1999 to 2004 he was President of J.P. Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) and, as a senior Managing Director, headed the firm’s investment banking group in the Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) region. As an investment banker, Mr. Consing was directly involved in some of the most significant corporate finance transactions in Asia. Mr. Consing worked for BPI in Manila in corporate planning and corporate banking from 1980 to 1985.

Mr. Consing served as an independent director of the boards of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad and CIMB Group Sdn. Berhad, from 2004 – 2012, and First Gen Corporation, from 2005 – 2013. He has been an independent director of the board of Jollibee Foods Corporation since 2010. He served as a board director of BPI from 1995 – 2000, 2004 – 2007, and most recently since 2010. Mr. Consing is a member of the Trilateral Commission. He received an M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1980, and an A.B. in Economics, magna cum laude, from De La Salle University, Manila, in 1979.

Mr. Roberto L. Panlilio

Managing Director and Senior Country Officer, JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Roberto “Bobbit” Panlilio is the Managing Director and Senior Country Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. He held the same position at the predecessor Chase Manhattan Bank from June 1999 to July 2011.  He is responsible for all J.P. Morgan’s businesses in the country.

Bobbit began his career at Citibank Philippines in 1976, moved overseas to Citibank N.A. in Hong Kong and Malaysia from 1985 to 1993 where he held senior roles in Treasury and Investment Banking. In 1993 he joined the Philippine Commercial International Bank and was in various management positions until 1999, his last designation as Chief Operating Officer.

Bobbit earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ateneo de Manila University and holds an MBA from the University of Southern California.  He serves as a member of the Board and sits on the Executive Committee of the Bankers Association of the Philippines. A member of the American Chamber of Commerce, Bobbit also sits on the Board of directors for several local nonprofit organizations and supports advocacies related to improving financial capability and financial inclusion in the Philippines.
